e39 528i w/ sports package

hey guys,

i have 1999 e39 528i w/ sports package.
i believe the size of the rims are 17x8 (please correct me if i'm wrong)

anyways, i know that the size of tires that i have now is 235/45/17 tires, but i would like to put some wider tires on the rear still remaining the same side wall height of the tires.
again, i'm only interested in the rear tires only.

please advise~

Check out Tire Rack. They have a tool where you enter the model and year and they'll tell you what's available.

My sports package come with staggered wheels and tires.
Front - 235-45-17
Rear- 255-40-17

I'm not sure if your 17X8 rims will fit 255 tires, you have to check that with the tire store to be safe. They might fit, but question is are they safe? Do you need 17X9?

yeah 540i comes with the nice setup, which has an inch wider rim on the rear.

wish my 528i came like that too, but i guess i'm stuck with it.

they have 17x9 rims for $481.95 per rim!!! that's crazy!!! man, i should go out look for some used ones out in the market.

anyways, thanks guys, i might ask around whether 17x8 can handle 255/40/17 tires.
